About Guildford

Guildford is situated in Surrey, England. Guildford has a population of just 77,000. it is a seat of Guildford wider Borough that had estimated 146,000 inhabitants in 2015. Guildford forms the southwestern tip of Greater London Area, and office defines it for National Statistics. In 1901 Guildford population was 15,938. It increased rapidly in the 20th century. Guildford boundaries were extended in 1904 and 1933. Westborough estate was built in the 1920s, and 1930s bypass has been constructed. In 1933 Lido was opened.

In 1942 first public library was opened. Yvonne Arnaud Theatre was opened in 1965, and it was named after concert pianist. In 1971 new sports centre was built. During the early 1980s, the new estate was established at Merrow Park. In 1980 Friary shopping centre was opened. 

Education

Primary schools in Guildford include Holy Trinity, Burpham, Boxgrove Primary School. Amongst Junior Schools in Guildford include Bushy Hill and Northmead Junior.  Various Independent Schools are there in Guildford from the Royal Grammar School. School was established in 1509. Lanesborough school is the prep school the choir school for Guildford Cathedral. It also has had a long association with Royal Grammar School. Various other independent schools are there in Guildford that include Guildford High School.

The campus of the University of Surrey is in Guildford. Battersea College of Technology moved to town in 1966, gain a Royal Charter to win own degrees and change its name to the current title.

In Guildford campus of University of Law and Guildford School of Acting is located. Other institutions located in Guildford include Guildford College of Further and higher education, Academy of Contemporary Music and Italia Conti Arts Centre.
