Middlesbrough is the biggest industrial city on the bank of the river in North Yorkshire, north-east England. This local council is the Borough Council. In 1889, Middlesbrough became the authority within North Riding of Yorkshire. In 1968, the borough was combined with several to form the County Borough of Teesside.
