About Wolverhampton

Wolverhampton is the town in West Midlands, England. It is a metropolitan region. According to the census of 2011, it had a population of 249,470. In early times, the city is named after Wulfrun. Wulfrun founded this city in 985. Former to the Norman Overthrow, the region’s name looks as Heantune or Hamtun. Thereafter the king Mercian King gave this city original name Wulfere?ant?n.

This city has grown as a special market town in the woollen trade. According to the evolution of the industry, it made the centre for coal mining, lock making and steel production. The city’s economy is based on engineering.

History:

Wolverhampton is the site of a battle between unified Mercian Angles and West Saxons. The Mercians and West Saxons requested a decisive conquest and the areas of Woden recognised by several places.

Geography:

Wolverhampton lies near to the Birmingham. It is the second largest portion of the West Midlands metropolis. Examples are the UK government regional bodies. This city is situated upon the Midlands Plateau at 163 m above sea level. There are no major rivers situated within the city. The city deceits across the main east-west watershed of England.
